Sierra Meadow Eastern Sierra

Dropping down from Tioga Pass, Highway 120 winds down a beautiful and rugged canyon. There is a meadow and aspen groves drained by Lee Vining Creek on the floor of the canyon. I love to go there in any season. This painting was from a recent trip to the eastern Sierra, to one of my most favorite meadows. This rock reminded me of a rock in our meadow growing up in Yosemite Valley. A lone rock we called boat rock, which we used to climb and use for hide and seek, or just daydreaming. It also looks a bit like Half Dome.
